Most of the time we talk about how to train languages through faith, but how about turning it around? Today we’re going to focus on how to build faith and develop spiritually through languages.
Try more Bible translations
Every Bible has the same content, but the wording of the sentences is different. What you would just pass over in an English Bible, for example, may grab you by the heart in a foreign language Bible because the same content is worded in a different way. You may discover nuances that you may have missed in the English language. Different wordings and translations emphasize different aspects of the Bible’s stories and messages, enriching our understanding.
Praise God in foreign languages
The same is true for praise as for the Bible. It is possible that an English verse will stick in your head rather than an English one. You may not understand all the words in a song, but that’s the point. By translating the words and learning the unfamiliar grammar, you can get to know God more. And that’s what it’s all about -> through languages to faith. Although sometimes you need to do more research on the appropriate vocabulary. And that’s what languages are all about. Meditate on the hymn texts, ponder the meaning of the words and how they resonate with your faith.
Pray in foreign languages
I think that few people pray in foreign languages. But why not give it a try? After all, God knows all the languages in the world, and if we can praise Him in other languages, we can pray in other languages. When you speak to the Lord in another language that you don’t know so well yet, you can think about it more. While you are thinking about vocabulary and grammar, ideas for other prayers will come to you. And I encourage you to do the same in English. If you don’t just “regurgitate” the prayer quickly, God has a chance to speak to you.
Listen to foreign language sermons
Instead of podcasts about cooking and lifestyle, you can do something for your spiritual growth and listen to foreign language sermons about God from different churches around the world.
Read foreign language material about God
